Mrs. Rhonda Mills, Principal
Mrs. Rhonda Mills is honored to be joining Marcy Elementary School as the principal. With more than 17 years of experience in education, she is dedicated to creating a safe, welcoming, and student-centered environment where every child is challenged, supported, and inspired to succeed. Mrs. Mills believes that strong schools are built on meaningful relationships, high expectations, and a shared commitment to excellence. She is passionate about partnering with students, families, staff, and the community to ensure every child reaches their fullest potential.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Mills has served as a Master Reading Teacher, Instructional Coach, Testing Coordinator, and Assistant Principal, bringing a background in instructional leadership and literacy. She earned master's degrees in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Leadership from East Texas A&M University, completed the Reading Specialist Program at Sul Ross State University, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership.
Outside of school, Mrs. Mills enjoys spending time with her husband of 27 years, Jason, their two adult sons, fly fishing in Colorado, and enjoying the quietness of country life. She is grateful for the opportunity to serve the Marcy Elementary family and is committed to building on the school's proud tradition of excellence.
Ms. Darbi Gibson, Assistant Principal
Darbi Gibson is excited to join Marcy Elementary as Assistant Principal and is entering her 9th year in education. She brings experience as a teacher, school counselor, and campus administrator, with a passion for supporting students and fostering a positive school culture.
Ms. Gibson earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She later earned both a Master of Education in School Counseling and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma. She holds certifications in English Language Arts, Psychology, School Counseling, and Principalship.
Throughout her career, Ms. Gibson has taught English Language Arts, Psychology, Personal Financial Literacy, and Yearbook. She has also served as a school counselor for seven years and most recently as an Assistant Principal. Her experiences have strengthened her commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students while building strong partnerships with families and staff.
When Darbi is not at school, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their children finding new places to fish. She is excited to be part of the Marcy Elementary family and looks forward to partnering with students, families, and staff to support student success.
